On the 7th and 8th of September Nederburg challenged our Come Wine With Us guests to uncork their creativity with their special range of Ingenuity wines.
The crisp white look of The Blank Canvas at The Rockwell Hotel in Green Point created a striking backdrop in contrast with the all black dress code for the evening, and we have to say that our guests were looking nothing short of incredible.
Nederburg’s Ingenuity range consists of 3 wines made in a European style. Winemaker, Heinrich Kulsen, took us through the craftsmanship and creativity behind each of these exciting blends which really showcase inventive winemaking at its best.
As guests enjoyed a glass of Nederburg Ingenuity White, an eight-way blend led by Sauvignon Blanc, art curator Roche Muller from Bright Creative Art Studio in Woodstock presented unique insights into traditional versus modern Italian and Spanish art as a nod to the Ingenuity Italian & Spanish blends still to come.
These beautiful wines were carefully paired with a tapas menu created by Chef Vanessa Marx in partnership with Chef Yolande from The Rockwell.
The Italian tapas course consisted of crispy arancini, Sicilian polpetta & Melanzane while the Spanish tapas course consisted of chorizo, tomato & olive bruschetta, Bacalao beignets served with smoked paprika mayo, crispy maize chips and a spicy salsa.
These delicious creations were then followed by an Italian & Spanish dessert blend in the form of ‘Affogato’ churros – with affogato meaning “drowned” in Italian and referring to a traditional coffee-based dessert and churros being a classic Spanish-style donut.
But while our guests were enjoying this food & wine feast they were also challenged to show us their artistic side by creating their very own wine label. It was fantastic to see the creativity flow as everyone got involved, and in the end it was a really tough task to select the top contenders.
We have to say a very big thank you to Nederburg for treating us to their Ingenuity wines, The Rockwell Hotel for the stunning venue, Vanessa Marx for the delicious food and Roche Muller for his artistic guidance and input.
